Java Licensing Optimization
In January 2023 Oracle completely changed its Java licensing model, introducing employee-based subscriptions instead of traditional per-processor or named-user models. This caused a major shift in how organizations must evaluate compliance and costs.
We help companies perform independent Java licensing assessments to understand the business impact and define the right strategy. You will receive a clear view of your current Java usage, potential risks, and the optimized target model to minimize future payments.
If required, we also support our clients in negotiations with Oracle and provide technical justification for the chosen licensing positions.
Oracle ULA Certification Support
ULA (Unlimited License Agreement) is Oracle’s model that allows unlimited use of specific products during a fixed term, typically three years. It is suitable for companies planning rapid infrastructure growth.
ULA Pros
- Allows to increase software usage without continuous license purchases
- Cost-effective for fast-growing infrastructures with well-defined product lists
ULA Cons
- Requires strict control over installations and usage of non-ULA products
- High support cost — typically 18–22% of contract value
- Risk of post-certification audit and detection of unlicensed software
- Vendor pressure to renew ULA unnecessarily
ULA certification is the process of declaring the software deployed at the end of the ULA term. Without proper control, organizations risk declaring too few or too many licenses — both leading to losses:
- If declared too few — shortage of licenses and additional costs
- If declared too many — vendor may reject certification and initiate an audit
Before certification, it’s recommended to assess your future needs for 2–3 years ahead. If no growth is expected, certification — not renewal — is usually the best option.
We help organizations achieve compliance and pass Oracle ULA certification without unnecessary expenses for licenses or technical support.
Our approach includes several key stages:
- Conducting an internal audit similar to vendor methodology
- Preparing for Oracle ULA certification
- Developing an optimal license management strategy
- Providing legal support and assistance in vendor negotiations
The preparation process typically includes:
- Assistance in data collection and quality review workshops
- Support in completing Oracle’s Global Deployment Report (GDR)
- Designing a deployment landscape to secure future license stock
- Formatting reports to minimize vendor questions
IBM Licensing & Compliance
IBM software licensing remains one of the most complex and diverse among major vendors. We assist clients in achieving compliance, reducing software costs, and preparing for IBM audits.
Our team provides independent assessments of IBM software usage and entitlement, including sub-capacity licensing under PVU and RVU metrics, and helps build a sustainable compliance strategy.
The detailed description of this service is currently being updated and will be available soon.
Audit Defense
If you received a notice regarding Oracle's license audit, it is better to stay in control and be prepared for the outcome. Ideally, your organization should continuously monitor software usage and be ready to collect data whenever required.
We help you conduct an internal audit of your Oracle software usage, assess your current license allocation, and determine any shortages or redundancies. You will receive a clear view of your licensing compliance — exactly as Oracle would assess it.
Having this assessment in advance is a strong advantage, but what if you already received an audit report from Oracle?
In this case, we will help you with:
- Challenging and analyzing the vendor’s audit report
- Providing recommendations to reduce or eliminate audit claims
- Developing negotiation strategy and communication scenarios with the vendor
- Delivering an independent audit and an optimized licensing strategy
In practice, we have been able to significantly reduce, and in some cases even nullify, Oracle’s financial claims.
ToolsHub — Software Usage Analytics
ToolsHub is our in-house analytics platform designed to process large volumes of software usage and licensing data to provide clear visibility into compliance, optimization, and savings opportunities.
It combines technical discovery data with contractual information, delivering actionable insights for licensing and audit preparation. The platform is continuously evolving, with new vendor modules and reporting features being added.
A detailed overview of ToolsHub functionality will be published soon.
Autodesk Licensing
Autodesk software licensing can quickly become complex with various subscription models, named-user rules, and changing product access terms.
We provide independent assessment and practical guidance on managing Autodesk licensing, compliance verification, and optimization of your subscription usage to reduce unnecessary costs.
Whether you operate under individual user subscriptions or multi-seat agreements, we help you stay compliant and get the most from your Autodesk investments.
Support Cost Optimization
We analyze the required level of technical support and your current payments to identify optimization opportunities and potential savings.
Most of the ongoing costs associated with enterprise software are related to technical support and maintenance. These costs typically increase when new transactions are made or Unlimited License Agreements (ULAs) are renewed — since Oracle and other vendors sum up support fees from previous agreements.
During the optimization process, two main categories of software are identified:
- Software that requires continued vendor support
- Software that does not require active support and can be maintained internally
This approach allows a clear understanding of the license landscape and long-term support strategy. Ongoing management of license assets not only ensures compliance but also enables sustained reduction of maintenance payments. These annual savings can be substantial.

VMware Isolation & Virtualization Licensing
Controlling software use in isolated virtual environments allows organizations to manage infrastructure flexibly — scaling licensed assets up or down depending on project needs. Proper virtualization control helps avoid over-licensing and ensures compliance with vendor requirements.
When using virtualization technologies such as VMware, Oracle requires you either:
- To license the entire virtual infrastructure (all VMware vCenters), or
- To isolate a specific part of your virtual environment dedicated to Oracle software and license it separately.
The isolation process is complex and involves several stages:
- Developing the isolation methodology. Experts design an approach based on Oracle’s requirements and the customer’s environment. This stage includes infrastructure analysis and capability assessment.
- Vendor coordination. The developed methodology must be reviewed and approved by Oracle. Documentation is prepared, submitted, and refined through coordination rounds.
- Implementation. Once approved, the isolation solution is implemented and replicated across the environment under vendor supervision.
- Verification. The final step involves validation and fine-tuning of the implemented configuration to ensure full compliance and stability.
Working with proper isolation methodology provides control, compliance, and long-term predictability of your virtual infrastructure.
